Wednesday Fun #57- Crazy recipes

What recipes do you (or your family) make that other people would never eat? Or would cause others to question your taste and/or cooking ability?

For example, my MIL made this dip/spread once with cream cheese, green peppers, and crushed pineapple. Serve with Wheat Thins. You would not think these things go together, but I find it really yummy and I make it all the time.

Or a friend of mine once told me about her family's recipe for "Corn Pudding" - it involved corn, cream, cream cheese and brown sugar. I think there were some other things too- but it was the corn and sugar together that threw me. (and I guess it's not unheard of in the south)

Another one is from when I was little, my BFF's Dad made this one and it was just called "Dad Cooking": scrambled eggs with shrimp mixed in, served over white rice. Throw on some beef consume and soy sauce to top it off.

Do you have any really strange ones?

Peanut butter and butter sandwiches. Especially when made with natural unsweetened peanut butter. I also love the peanut butter chedar cheese sandwich. ajd tells me that's odd.

Um, wow. Those are a little, um, unusual.

Now I've got to think about what I eat that might seem strange to others, 'cuz to me it's just what I eat...

I like the peanut butter/butter ones too. haven't had in a long time though.

I guess mine would be "grilled" spam and kimchi. Yum!

But, also, if you take an onion bagel, toast it, put butter on one side and mayo on the other and a hunk of cheddar cheese in the middle. YUM! Gives you really bad breath, though.

Um, yeah, my cooking ability. My "other" vote means I don't consider myself any kind of cook. I cook out of a box or a bag, or cook simple standbys like tacos that involve very little cooking at all.

yum
made some with store bought pickles, still OK
also radish sandwiches , white bread, butter, and thin sliced radishes salt and pepper
good with radishes fresh out of garden

Ooo, I love the sound of grill spam and kimchi.

I drink pickle juice too, which I guess is odd. Pickles and peanut butter sounds kind of good.

I am such a freak.

Our oldest loves Peanut Butter sandwiches and mustard. He has friends come over and they will try it (I have not). So we put the mustard on the side and they can dipit. I had one child come back and say can I have mustard with my sandwich my mom says she will not make it that way.

We make Crazy Meatballs and I might have to post that. You would be surprised what is in it.

always put mustard on grilled cheese, dijon or other types best but yellow is ok too

I've never tried it, but Puck swears people who came into the General Store when he worked there actually enjoyed this: Sweet and sour soup made from 1 head cabbage, 2 liters of ginger ale, and a 32-oz. bottle of ketchup.

I made that cabbage soup. It was ok but I think we added too much pepper from your last post on it.
