A while back we had a
cookbook call-out for WF, and it looks like folks have a LOT of cookbooks... but if you're anything like me, there are one or two you just keep going back to over, and over, and over again.
So today I ask...
Which cookbook do you use the most?
And why do you keep coming back to that one?

I like the new asparagus! I liked the old asparagus too, but this asparagus is dripping with oil and therefore looks yummier. :-)
Joy of Cooking, hands down. It's my desert island cookbook. Though, with these new-fangled Internets, I'm more likely to go to Epicurious.com for new recipes. That advanced search function, where I can say, "I want to make a Middle Eastern main course that's quick, low sodium, doesn't have any nuts and features rutabaga" or "Nng. Have grill. Have beef. Now what?" is wonderful.
that is wonderful, much better than blue asparagus
We've got a Cooking Light Annual Recipes 2002 that we pull out a lot - probably the most. Couldn't use it as much in Ireland as a lot of the ingredients, especially ethnic ones, weren't as easily available, but it's great again now. The recipes are healthy (even if we never do as low-fat, no-fat, sodium-free as they do), and tasty, and not too horrendously complicated. Also, I mostly grab a cookbook for meals, not desserts or a specific dish, so it's also inspiration.
It might be a tie between the Joy of Cooking and the Betty Crocker. I tend to use the Betty one more for baking and I am the messier cook in the house.
