Wednesday Fun #17 - CSA

So we just signed up to join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) for this year and we're excited to be getting some yummy veggies. We're still planning on creating a garden here (actually, probably two - a vegetable one and an herb one). However, this will take some of the pressure off said garden-to-be.

You'll notice the poll over to the right is about your possible experience with CSAs - and feel free to add any CSA-related commentary here, too - but my question for the week is this...

What's your favorite vegetable that you could potentially grow in a garden of your own?

P.S. Don't forget to post any "Freezer Keeper" recipes soon!

I'm all about the beans. Love em.

Favorite vegetable? What's this now?
I have honestly never thought about growing them myself (I suppose because then I'd have to eat them all the time!) I'd be most likely to try green peppers or cucumbers. Maybe snap peas? Can I grow those here?

TOMATOES! (I know, big surprise, right?)

AKJ, yes, you can indeed grow snap peas here — we've had them in our garden for the past few years. Not only are they delicious, but they grow on rather adorable little wispy vines with very slightly variegated leaves and cute white flowers. Super easy to grow.

Syl, does that mean you'll come harvest green beans from my garden this year? I'm rotating crops and I know I'm going to be growing more beans than I can eat.

I love pretty much everything, except pointy root vegetables, excluding radishes. I've grown most everything as a kid, and other stuff while in Brooklyn.

CSA's were pre the farm I grew up on, but my mom participates in them now in Boulder. I want to do one for us, but I know I can only do a half share.
