Wednesday Fun #6 - Favorite Soup

Brrr! It's getting cold out. Just the right kind of weather for soup! I made wild rice soup already this week and I think I'll be making chicken soup with homemade noodles very soon! (Because Pumpkin and I made the noodles yesterday and it's one of Mr. Kluges's favorites.)

What's your favorite kind of soup on a chilly fall or winter day?

(That is, if you like soup, 'cuz not everybody does, you know.)

I love a good veggie soup, or creamy potato soups. Pretty much I love all soup except squash soup, but thats because of my general dislike for the gourd.

That's right :) I don't particularly like soup. Too many ingredients touching/all mixed together. I do like Chicken noodle (homemade is even better!) and a good chicken and wild rice is great on a cold day. And.. that's pretty much all the soups I like.

You were the very one I added that addendum for, AKJ! *grin* I knew you liked few, if any, soups.

I'm a fan of most, except tomato soup or clam chowder (well, any seafood soup, really). I had a butternut bisque once that was awesome... and I've got a soft spot in my heart for the beer cheese soup in a bread bowl you can get at Fest.

I'm also not a huge soup fan, but I will dig a chicken wild rice. And a really good beef stew.

Oh, and I have all the ingredients for the Mexicali casserole, I just haven't made it yet.

Also not a big soup eater, though I tend to like most of them. I usually lean more toward stews. Tomato soup is only edible when accompanied by grilled cheese sandwiches, though no-nick (I think) made a tomato bisque once that was really lovely. Chicken wild rice, especially of the creamy variety, is always a fave. Beer cheese — or any of the cheese-based soups really, though they run the highest risk of being disappointing. And I made your butternut soup with horseradish cream last week and it was delish!

I usually make a hamburger veggie soup because I always have the ingredients on hand. Wog doesn't like soup, but he'll eat that one without complaining. I do like to make home made chicken noodle too, though I can't get the good noodles out here. Noodle suggestion for those in MN: Check your freezer case for frozen, thick, egg noodles. They are WONDERFUL in chicken noodle soup. Boil them a bit in their own pan first to keep your broth from getting cloudy.

Oh - also love the creamy chicken wild rice soup but, again, no wild rice out here. =( My mom is bringing me some for Thanksgiving though. =)
